Springtime may technically be here but in Naples it’s not all warm and snug outside. Your furnace has been running for months trying to keep your home comfortable, so now is the time to show your furnace some affection. If you hear weird noises or the heating system has stopped operating, you may be in need of a furnace repair. If you notice a strong gas smell, you almost surely need furnace repair work and you should call Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning immediately.
Before you jump to the conclusion that you need a furnace repair technician, read these tips from Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.
- Check that your thermostat is set to “heat.”
It may sound laughable, but we have hectic days and life happens, so it’s very easy to miss the simple fixes. Neglecting to switch over the thermostat can make you believe you need furnace repair and installation when really you can fix the problem with a literal flip of the switch!
- Check your furnace switch.
Speaking of switches, make sure your furnace switch is on the up, or “on” position. As before, an easy miss, especially considering this switch isn’t one you tend to look at usually. Most systems have built-in delays so make sure when you turn on your furnace you give it a few minutes to get going before panicking about needing our furnace repair man.
- Replace your furnace air filter.
You should swap out your home’s air filters no less than every three months to help your furnace run more efficiently and put off any furnace repair work. A filthy air filter is one of the most recurrent reasons for decreased performance in furnaces, and they can also be a breeding ground for bacteria and cause you and your loved ones to become sick. Change your filter to keep both your furnace and your home healthy. You may also schedule yearly maintenance with Service Experts and have a thorough furnace cleaning as part of your tune up.
- Check the circuit breaker.
Confirm that your circuit breaker that controls your heating system is in the “off” position. If it ends up in the middle position, switch the breaker to the “off” position and then switch back to the “on” position.
Furnace repairs get to be expensive, so avoid a future issue altogether with seasonal maintenance from Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning. However, if you are ever in need of furnace repair, we are available 24/7/365 to help you with all your heating needs.
